Alikber Alikberov addressed participants of the youth session of the "Primakov Readings"

On 22 June, in the run-up to the 7th youth session of the "Primakov Readings", participants of the programme met with Dr Alikber Alikberov, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences.

During his speech, the speaker examined the concept of the state-civilisation and its significance in the modern world, comparing the Western model of development with approaches of non-Western countries. He emphasised the importance of preserving cultural identity and historical traditions as opposed to the imposition of Western values.

The Russian scholar paid particular attention to the potential of BRICS in creating an alternative model of international interaction based on mutual benefit and respect for cultural differences.

The meeting was moderated by Ruslan Mamedov, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Scientific Director of the Primakov Center.

On the same day, a tour of Yevgeny Primakov's significant places in Moscow was organised for the participants of the youth session, led by the Center's staff member Artem Adrianov.
