Primakov Center Presents Analytical Theses on Russia-Saudi Arabia Relations

On December 13, the Primakov Center hosted the presentation of analytical theses "Russia and Saudi Arabia in the New World Order" by Nikolay Surkov, Ph.D. in Political Science and Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies of IMEMO.

The author analyzes Saudi Arabia's multi-vector foreign policy under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, focusing on its key priorities—modernization, strengthening regional stability, and developing ties with the Global South. According to the expert, this approach is driven by the recognition of the multipolar nature of the modern world and the need for diversified alliances.

Particular attention is given to Saudi Arabia’s participation in BRICS as an opportunity to advance the interests of developing countries, as well as its cooperation with Russia in energy and regional security.

The theses are available via the link.

The presentation was followed by an expert seminar discussing Turkey's geopolitical role in the region and its relations with Gulf countries, particularly in light of the evolving security architecture and the fall of the Assad regime in Syria.

The seminar brought together leading Russian Middle East experts from the Institute of Oriental Studies, HSE University, MGIMO, RSUH, and IMEMO.
