The 2026 Moscow Nonproliferation Conference (MNC)
Since 2022, the CENESS and the Primakov Center jointly organise New Generation Experts Segment of the MNC. The forum’s programme features a series of sessions with the participation of young Russian and international professionals.

Participants of the New Generation Experts Segment will be invited to take part in the 2026 MNC (3 days), and then — in the youth segment of the MNC (2 days).

The event will take place in March 2026.

Detailed information, including the dates and venue of the MNC and its youth segment, will be provided additionally to the experts selected for the program.
The Moscow Nonproliferation Conference (MNC) is one of the flagship international discussion platforms focused on topical issues in the field of nuclear nonproliferation, arms control and peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

Now entering its eighth edition in 2026, the MNC is expected to bring together around 270 participants from 45 countries, including diplomats, researchers, representatives of think tanks, alongside experts from key international organizations in the field such as the CTBTO, IAEA, and the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs

The Conference is held biennially by CENESS.
New Generation Experts Segment of the 2026 MNC

Who can apply?
  • Researchers or representatives of think tanks focusing on international or regional security, arms control, disarmament, or peaceful uses of nuclear energy
  • Experts from governmental and international organizations working in the field
  • Master’s or PhD students specializing in related disciplines
  • Exceptionally qualified Bachelor’s students (in their final year) with substantial research experience in the MNC’s field of focus
Eligibility:
  • 21−35 years old (at the time of application)
  • English language proficiency at B2 level and above
  • Experience in writing paper(-s) on these topics and/or participating in projects and activities in the field of nuclear nonproliferation, disarmament, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy

Priority will be given to those participating in the Conference for the first time.

Terms of participation:
The organizers cover the cost of:
  • Roundtrip tickets to Moscow (for participants living outside Moscow)
  • Transfer from the airport/train station to the hotel and back in Moscow
  • Accommodation up to 5 nights (for participants living outside Moscow)
  • Meals (according to the program of the event)

The organizers provide assistance in obtaining a Russian visa and the necessary logistical support to the participants selected for the 2026 MNC.

Participants cover the cost of:
  • Fee for obtaining a Russian visa (if applicable)
  • Medical insurance
How to apply?
  • Complete an online application form
  • Attach a CV detailing academic and professional background, particularly highlighting applicant’s experience in publications and activities in the field of nuclear nonproliferation, arms control, disarmament, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy
  • Submit an essay (up to 3000 characters, including spaces) in English or Russian, addressing the topic: “Why I’m Interested in Attending the 2026 Moscow Nonproliferation Conference

It is expected that the selection results will be announced no later than 24 December 2025. All applicants will be informed about the results by email.
